The House Foundation for the Arts is a nonprofit organization with a mission to cultivate cultural engagement through live music concerts, interdisciplinary performances, exhibitions and educational initiatives. Meredith Monk (b. November 20, 1942, New York City)\u00a0is a composer, singer, director\/choreographer and creator of new opera, music-theater works, films and installations. Recognized as one of the most unique and influential artists of our time, she is a pioneer in what is now called \u201cextended vocal technique\u201d and \u201cinterdisciplinary performance.\u201d Monk creates works that thrive at the intersection of music and movement, image and object, light and sound, discovering and weaving together new modes of perception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
